It's Friday! Have You Turned Into A Book Yet? [10]

"It's Friday! Have You Turned Into A Book Yet?" is inspired by the #fridayreads
Twitter meme, Book Journey's "It's Monday! What Are You Reading?", Should Be Reading's "WWW Wednesdays", Tynga's Reviews "Stacking the Shelves" and the various other book haul memes, and probably a few others I can't remember right now.

All covers/book title links lead to Goodreads.

I must admit, I'm not very far into it, but it is quite excellent so far!

As you may have noticed yesterday, I'm going to be participating in the Take Control of Your TBR Pile Read-a-thon. This book is on my goals list, as I've had it since 2010 and still haven't read it.

This is another older TBR Pile book I need to get to, so it's also a goal for the read-a-thon.

I LOVED IT! Oh, it was such an excellent Cinderella retelling. Just please read it if you haven't.

YA Highway revealed the cover to Melissa Landers' debut, Alienated. The book releases Feb 4, 2014 from Disney*Hyperion, and the cover is so fun! I'm definitely looking forward this. Melissa is also giving away a signed ARC, so check that out.

Two years ago, the aliens made contact. Now Cara Sweeney is going to be sharing a bathroom with one of them.

Handpicked to host the first-ever L’eihr exchange student, Cara thinks her future is set. Not only does she get a free ride to her dream college, she’ll have inside information about the mysterious L’eihrs that every journalist would kill for. Cara’s blog following is about to skyrocket.

Still, Cara isn’t sure what to think when she meets Aelyx. Humans and L’eihrs have nearly identical DNA, but cold, infuriatingly brilliant Aelyx couldn’t seem more alien. She’s certain about one thing, though: no human boy is this good-looking.

But when Cara's classmates get swept up by anti-L'eihr paranoia, Midtown High School suddenly isn't safe anymore. Threatening notes appear in Cara's locker, and a police officer has to escort her and Aelyx to class.

Cara finds support in the last person she expected. She realizes that Aelyx isn’t just her only friend; she's fallen hard for him. But Aelyx has been hiding the truth about the purpose of his exchange, and its potentially deadly consequences. Soon Cara will be in for the fight of her life—not just for herself and the boy loves, but for the future of her planet.

Susan Dennard revealed the cover to her upcoming Something Strange and Deadly novella, A Dawn Most Wicked. The novella releases e-book only on June 4, 2013 from HarperTeen Impulse. I am so excited for this novella, guys. I LOVED Something Strange and Deadly, and Daniel—SWOON!

Daniel Sheridan is an engineer’s apprentice on a haunted Mississippi steamer known as the Sadie Queen. His best friend–the apprentice pilot, Cassidy Cochran–also happens to be the girl he’s pining for…and the captain’s daughter. But when it looks like the Sadie Queen might get taken off the river, Daniel and Cassidy have to do whatever they can to stop the ghosts that plague the ship.

Fortunately, there happens to be a Creole gentleman on board by the name of Joseph Boyer—and he just might be able to help them…

EW's Shelf Life revealed the cover to David Levithan's new book, Two Boys Kissing. The book releases Aug 27, 2013 from Knopf BFYR.

New York Times bestselling author David Levithan tells the based-on-true-events story of Harry and Craig, two 17-year-olds who are about to take part in a 32-hour marathon of kissing to set a new Guinness World Record—all of which is narrated by a Greek Chorus of the generation of gay men lost to AIDS. While the two increasingly dehydrated and sleep-deprived boys are locking lips, they become a focal point in the lives of other teen boys dealing with languishing long-term relationships, coming out, navigating gender identity, and falling deeper into the digital rabbit hole of gay hookup sites—all while the kissing former couple tries to figure out their own feelings for each other.

This follow-up to the bestselling Every Day showcases David's trademark sharp-witted, warm-hearted tales of teenage love, and serves as a perfect thematic bookend to David's YA debut and breakthrough, Boy Meets Boy, which celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2013.

EW's Shelf Life also revealed the cover to Kami Garcia solo debut, Unbreakable. It releases Oct 1, 2013 from Little, Brown BFYR. This book sounds kind of amazing, and I'll probably be too scared to sleep (I scare really easily).

I never believed in ghosts. Until one tried to kill me.

When Kennedy Waters finds her mother dead, her world begins to unravel. She doesn’t know that paranormal forces in a much darker world are the ones pulling the strings. Not until identical twins Jared and Lukas Lockhart break into Kennedy’s room and destroy a dangerous spirit sent to kill her. The brothers reveal that her mother was part of an ancient secret society responsible for protecting the world from a vengeful demon — a society whose five members were all murdered on the same night.

Now Kennedy has to take her mother’s place in the Legion if she wants to uncover the truth and stay alive. Along with new Legion members Priest and Alara, the teens race to find the only weapon that might be able to destroy the demon — battling the deadly spirits he controls every step of the way.

Suspense, romance, and the paranormal meet in this chilling urban fantasy, the first book in a new series from Kami Garcia, bestselling coauthor of the Beautiful Creatures novels.

Elizabeth Fama revealed the paperback cover to her novel Monstrous Beauty. The paperback releases Oct 1, 2013 from Square Fish/Macmillan. This book is so awesomesauce, and the new cover is GORGEOUS! and totally fits the book.

Fierce, seductive mermaid Syrenka falls in love with Ezra, a young naturalist. When she abandons her life underwater for a chance at happiness on land, she is unaware that this decision comes with horrific and deadly consequences.

Almost one hundred forty years later, seventeen-year-old Hester meets a mysterious stranger named Ezra and feels overwhelmingly, inexplicably drawn to him. For generations, love has resulted in death for the women in her family. Is it an undiagnosed genetic defect . . . or a curse? With Ezra’s help, Hester investigates her family’s strange, sad history. The answers she seeks are waiting in the graveyard, the crypt, and at the bottom of the ocean—but powerful forces will do anything to keep her from uncovering her connection to Syrenka and to the tragedy of so long ago.

It's Friday! Have You Turned Into A Book Yet? [7]

I skipped last week because I had family visiting and a book signing to go to, and I honestly forgot about this. Sorry.

(P.S. What do you think of my new little button ↑ ?)

I haven't gotten very far into it (like only 10 pages), but so far I'm liking it.

I still haven't finished this. And I probably will end up marking this DNF-For-Now.

As you'll see in "TBF Left Me Hanging," I just picked this up, and, knowing me, I'll get on another ContempRomance kick after Amy & Roger, so figured I might as well start this before I forget about it.

I still haven't read this, and I ended up *cringe* seeing the movie before reading the book.

Loved. It! Ugh, it was just so good, I don't even know what to say, other than Go. Read. Now.

This book. . .WOW. It was so amazing. I loved it just as much as Grave Mercy, which, while that's what I was hoping for, I didn't think it would happen, because I LOVE court intrigue, and this book focused more on Sybella's feelings than court politics.

I am so happy about find Dance with a Vampire! Awhile ago I started collecting old editions of books that got their cover changed, and with DwaV I only need to find a hardcover of Vampire Kisses (book 1) to complete my Vampire Kisses collection. Also, I found it when I went to Ally Carter's signing in Lansing (which is how Perfect Scoundrels got to be signed), and I must say, Ally. Is. AWESOME!

This week I've just did a title and link to the various Book News.

Reading this for the 3rd time. I love this book soooo much, and it seems to get better every time I read it.

I started this on the plane last week, but after I got Gates of Paradise from Books of Wonder, I just put it aside.

Finally got the ARC I won, so I hope to start this soon.

I still need to read this, and I only have 2 weeks left. Gah!

O. M. G. This book was AMAZING! And I can't believe the series is over!! Uh, I'm tearing up just thinking about it. *sob* No more Blue Bloods!! (Well, there is a spin-off coming, but not for a while :( .)

I loved it! Just what I needed to get over the end of the series. The art is gorgeous, and it was adapted very well!

There were so many cover reveals this week that if I listed them all here the "Book News" section would be longer than the rest of the post! So I decided to just recap all the cover reveals over in a "Exciting Book Stuff" post. You can find that post here.

Jodi Meadows revealed the trailer to her recently released Asunder, book 2 in the Newsoul trilogy. Check it out below.

Courtney Allison Moulton revealed the trailer to her recent release, Shadows in the SilenceAngelfire book 3.

Three new Unravel Me spoiler videos were unveiled, "Infomercial," "Household Products," and "I Wrote a Song for You." HuffPost Books posted "Household Products," as well an interview with Tahereh Mafi. Examiner.com posted "I Wrote a Song for You." The videos are below, and remember they are SPOILER vids, so watch at your own risk.

That's everything. See y'all next week!
